O2 offers Wi-Fi calls with O2 Message+Call app

(Telecompaper) O2 Germany has launched a new telephony service, the O2 Message+Call app, enabling customers to make calls via WLAN. Other features such as video telephony, chat and data transfer are possible as well. The app is currently available in a beta version, and will be continuously developed and optimised based on customer response. In a first step, the app is available for O2 contract subscribers without a multicard who use an Android smartphone (from version 4.0). Prepaid customers, multicard users as well as E-Plus and Base customers will get access to the app at a later stage.
Philadelphia council wants free Wi-Fi in parks from Comcast

Philadelphia City Council wants Comcast Corp. to provide free wireless Internet service to the city's prisons, recreation centers and parks. The Philadelphia Inquirer says council has sent letters to Comcast as the city negotiates a new 15-year franchise agreement with the cable TV and Internet provider.
