Infinix starts smartphone manufacturing in Egypt in partnership with Sico

(Telecompaper) Infinix says it has started manufacturing its smartphones in Egypt, the Daily News reported. This makes Infinix the first global smartphones maker to start production lines for its handsets in Egypt, and the second mobile factory in the country after domestic firm Sico Technology. Infinix has signed a cooperation agreement with Sico, under which new production lines to assemble smartphones will start up at Sico's facility in the Assiut technology zone.

Vodafone Egypt acquires 40 MHz spectrum in 2.6 GHz band for USD 540 mln

(Telecompaper) Vodafone Egypt has acquired 40 MHz of 2.6 GHz TDD spectrum from the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA), with a ten-year licence term through to 2030. Payments will be phased over three years, with an initial payment of USD 270 million upon receipt of the spectrum and two other payments of USD 135 million due in 2021 and 2022 respectively.

(Telecompaper) Telecom Egypt has announced that the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) has accepted and approved its financial and technical offer for additional spectrum that was submitted on 17 September. The company is expected to receive 20 MHz of spectrum in the 2600 MHz band, using TDD technology with a right of use of ten years for USD 305 million, of which 50 percent will be paid in US dollars upon signing the contracts.
Telecom Egypt procures Ericsson equipment for international gateway migration

(Telecompaper) Telecom Egypt has signed an agreement with Ericsson for its international gateway migration using equipment to contribute to improving the quality of its services and developing the network to meet customers' future requirements. Ericsson will deploy its Network Functions Virtualisation Infrastructure (NFVI) with Ericsson Orchestrator to enhance the quality of fixed and mobile services provided by Telecom Egypt, reduce the total cost of ownership (TCO), and automate Virtual Network Functions (VNFs) to pave the way for new business models and enterprise services.
