Himachal Pradesh State Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission president, justice Surjit Singh, on Saturday ordered HP State Civil Supply Corporation Limited, the owner of the gas agency that supplied LPG cylinder, and the area manager of Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Shimla, to pay compensation of Rs 22.25 lakh and addition Rs 1 lakh as punitive damage and Rs 10,000 as litigation expenses to the family members of Aswani Kumar, who died in a fire due to leakage of LPG cylinder in Jogindernagar here. Singh has ordered to pay the compensation along with 9% interest on the amount, calculated from the date of filing the case by the victim's family.
