Realtors group offering help to flood victims

The Palmetto State's realtor trade association is taking applications from victims of the recent flooding for mortgage and rent relief. The Realtors Relief Foundation , a partnership between the S.C. Association of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors , is offering up to $1,000 to qualified applicants for mortgage expenses or the cost of temporary housing as a result of displacement, a news release from the Columbia-based association said.

Figures due from the U.S. Commerce Department today are expected to show that consumer spending rose modestly in September, as strong auto sales offset the effect of lower gasoline prices. A survey of economists forecast retail sales increasing 0.2% last month after a similar gain in August, and retailers are now looking forward to the holiday season to bolster a choppy year for sales.

Anheuser-Busch Sends Drinking Water To Flood Victims

Anheuser-Busch has provided 8,624 cases of emergency drinking water - or 206,976 cans - for use by South Carolina residents affected by flooding. Four trucks loaded with water were sent from the Anheuser-Busch brewery in Cartersville, Georgia, to assist residents of Columbia, Charleston and Myrtle Beach, and military families at Fort Jackson.

Sonoco Donates $50,000 to South Carolina Flood Relief

Sonoco , one of the largest diversified global packaging companies, has donated $50,000 to the American Red Cross to aid in flood relief efforts in the Pee Dee and across the Palmetto State. This brings Sonoco's total to $95,000 in Red Cross donations in 2015.
