AT&T presents new IoT products at CTIA conference

(Telecompaper) AT&T has announced several IoT products at CTIA Super Mobility Week, including the Smart Garden Hub, a 3G-powered smart garden device for consumers from Israeli start-up GreenIQ which will exclusively use the AT&T network in the US when it is released by the end of the year. GreenIQ has integrated a new flow meter into the Smart Garden Hub to enable volumetric watering and irrigation scheduling, more precise water usage monitoring, earlier detection of leakages and pipe bursts, and smaller water bills. The carrier also unveiled a proof of concept connected wheelchair with Swedish mobility equipment group Permobil that interconnects wheelchairs to boost users' independence and quality of life. Another product is the Tumi Global Locator wireless tracking device launched in collaboration with travel lifestyle brand Tumi and LugTrack. The device provides travellers with real-time data regarding their luggage's location. Another company using AT&T mobile connectivity is Kika Enterprises, which has released the Alert asset protection unit as an accessory for Polaris electric bikes worldwide.

As multi-mode, multi-carrier LTE Cat 1 module with HSPA fallback for North America, TOBY-R201 covers LTE bands 2, 4, 13 and 17 as well as HSPA bands 2 and 5 and comes in 24.8 x 35.6 mm² LGA package. LTE Cat 1 modules for largest North American carriers include LARA-R200 (LTE bands 4, 13) and LARA-R202 (LTE bands 2, 4, 17) with 22.0 x 27.5 mm² LGA form factor. Modules operate from -40 to +85°C and provide long-term LTE technology at speeds to 10 Mbps (download) and 5 Mbps (upload).
