Google to open new Spain cloud region, expand Telefonica partnership

(Telecompaper) Telefonica and Google Cloud have announced an agreement to expand their existing cloud and cybersecurity partnership to meet the growing technology needs of Spanish businesses, boost the country's digital transformation and post-Covid-19 economic recovery as well as advancing 5G mobile edge computing. As part of the new agreement, Google revealed that it intends to open a new Spanish cloud region in Madrid using Telefonica's infrastructure.

Google releases Android 11 beta

(Telecompaper) Google has released the beta version of Android 11. After cancelling its launch event last week due to events in the US, the company released only a few videos and online resources to explain the new OS. The software is available for the Pixel 2+ to start and will come to other devices in the coming weeks.

Google facing class action of at least USD 5 bln for gathering private browsing information

(Telecompaper) Google has been accused of secretly gathering information about people's browsing information, even when they are in "incognito" mode, Reuters reported, saying the company is now facing a class action suit. Plaintiffs are seeking at least USD 5 billion, saying millions of users have been affected by the company's actions since June 2016, even when browsing in "private" mode. A spokesperson for Google said the company will defend itself vigorously against the claims.
