(Telecompaper) Google has announced that it will invest another EUR 600 million in its data centre operations in Hamina in Finland in 2020, bringing its total investment there to EUR 2 billion since 2009. This will support approximately 4,300 jobs per year on average over the next two years and beyond.
Google makes major renewable energy push with 18 new deals

(Telecompaper) Google said it has signed 18 new energy deals that together will amount to a package of 1,600 megawatt (MW). The company has also awarded two grants, each of USD 500,000, to support organisations looking to expand access to clear energy for all businesses. The announcements come ahead of the Global Climate Strike on 20-27 September and as data centres operator all over the world try to meet demand for data and energy.

(Telecompaper) Last week, Naspers listed its consumer internet unit Prosus in Amsterdam. Walt Disney unexpectedly launched its much anticipated Disney+ service in a single country, the Netherlands, for a free trial until the official launch date in November. Naspers, as a result of the partial spin-off of Prosus, lost 30 percent in week 37. Other than that, IAC was the biggest loser, down 7.1 percent. The winners included Salem Media (+22%), comScore (+16%) and ProSieben (+15%). Our Global Media index was up 0.5 percent for the week, against a gain of 1.0 percent for the S&P 500 index.
