Vietnam Moves to Allow Foreigners to Buy Homes

Vietnam has moved to allow foreigners to buy homes as it tries to revive its struggling real-estate market and attract more outside investment. Foreign organizations and companies operating in the country, as well as foreign individuals with valid visas, will be able to buy houses and apartments, according to Phan Trung Ly, head of the National Assembly's Law Committee.

Wyoming Moves to Control Uranium Oversight

Under the proposal, the state - which leads the nation in uranium production - would invest about $1.4 million for the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality to set up rules and staff to meet Nuclear Regulatory Commission requirements, the Associated Press reported : DEQ Director Todd Parfitt said it could take four to six years for the agency to fully take over the job and get NRC approval. Once the state takes over responsibility, Wyoming would collect fees from the industry to cover its costs of regulating mining.

Canadian dollar advances amid surprise increase in inflation, central bank moves

The loonie was up 0.59 of a cent to 89.04 cents US after Statistics Canada said inflation rose by 0.1 per cent from September. Economists had been looking for a drop after a 0.2 per cent rise in September.
