Today, the FCC Wireline Competition Bureau released a Public Notice seeking to refresh the record on a Petition for Reconsideration filed by the National Cable & Telecommunications Association , COMPTEL, and tw telecom in June 2011 seeking to change certain aspects of the FCC's new telecommunications pole attachment rate formula to make the telecommunications and cable pole attachment rates equivalent even when the number of attaching entities differ from the Commission's presumptions. Without changes to the formula, the telecommunications rate could significantly exceed the cable rate, thwarting the Commission's effort to align the two federal pole attachment rates.

Manitoba Telecom Services Inc. says it's reducing the workforce at its Allstream national division by 25 per cent. The Winnipeg-based company says 100 employees have already left and a further 400 have been notified they'll be leaving the business in 2015 or 2016.

NJ telecom firm to launch cybersecurity yeshiva

An ultra-Orthodox man studying religious texts with a computer at a Yeshiva in Jerusalem A New Jersey telecommunications firm will launch a cybersecurity yeshiva at its Newark headquarters to teach computer science alongside the Torah. The IDT Corp. said it will open the yeshiva for some 40 students in September.
