Path to 2 C emerges as thorn at climate talks
2015-06-06 09:00:00| Climate Ark Climate Change & Global Warming Newsfeed
Agence France-Presse: The world community has rallied around the goal of limiting global warming to two degrees Celsius (3.6 degrees Fahrenheit), but how to get there is becoming a headache. One of the many knots to untangle at UN climate talks is whether to set a trajectory for reaching 2 C -- and if so, how. Some countries say the 2 C goal itself is too vague, and needs to be buttressed by a long-term ceiling for greenhouse gas emissions. "It would be clearer and more concrete than 2 C. But it's a tough issue,"...

Vodafone confirms Liberty Global talks about European assets
2015-06-05 09:48:00| Telecompaper Headlines
(Telecompaper) Vodafone confirmed overnight reports that it had entered informal talks with Liberty Global about combining some of their businesses in Europe, but added that the two groups were not considering a combination, which market watchers say would create a GBP 100 billion company, the Financial Times reported. A few weeks ago, Liberty Global chairman John Malone pointed out certain synergies should the company merge with Vodafone European businesses. However, Vodafone on Friday said that it was not in interested in a group merger but rather the possible exchange of "selected assets between the two companies". There is no certainty that any transaction will be agreed, or which assets will ultimately be involved. Vodafone's business in the UK, Germany and the Netherlands would be immediately complementary to Liberty's cable services in the countries, allowing combinations of the two groups in these areas to offer bundled telecoms and TV products.
