This is a permanent position, calling for extensive experience of Solaris and Linux. You will be placed on assignment based near Frankfurt in Germany for several years. Candidates should be available to start in October 2015. Our client is responsible for establishing and operating weather forecasting and Earth observation satellite programmes with associated data telemetry and dissemination operations. Vast quantities of data are produced and user communities throughout the world are able to access both current and historical data sets. The demanding realtime environment places much emphasis on adherence to quality and configuration management standards and procedures. The main working language is English. The duties range from the support to the operation of Solaris and Linux based facilities, to the analysis, design, development, testing and maintenance of distributed hardware and system software platforms. This includes settingup and implementation of maintenance policies and procedures, support to the procurement of hardware and software, and the coordination with external providers of maintenance services. The key experience and attributes sought are Solaris Linux RedHat or SLES High Availability software Sun Cluster and Veritas Cluster Sun QFS and SAMQFS software in HA cluster environments IT System design skills Preparation of technical documentation in English Knowledge of some of the following would be advantageous The monitoring tool Nagios VMWare Virtualization RAID arrays EMC SAN Brocade Backup and recovery systems It is also an advantage to be able to carry out basic hardware support like installing interface cards or physically setting up networks.
