Broadcom announces smaller and faster 28nm LTE chips to challenge Qualcomm
2013-02-13 15:30:01| Extremetech
Today, Broadcom announced that it is developing a 28nm LTE modem that dramatically reduces the size and power footprint compared to previous chips. On top of that, it implements LTE Category 4, so theoretical download speeds of 150Mbps and uploads at 51Mbps are possible. Sadly, consumers won't see devices using this LTE modem until at least next year.

Sunlit Permafrost Unleashes Carbon at Faster Pace

Toshiba ships first NAND flash chips with faster transfer standard
2013-02-08 15:03:28| InfoWorld: Top News
Toshiba has started shipping the first NAND flash chips to support Universal Flash Storage, a new standard that is 50 percent faster than current technology. The company said Friday that it began shipping samples in January of a 64GB chip that supports the UFS standard, allowing transfer speeds of up to 300MB per second. The latest version of the current eMMC (embedded MultiMediaCard) standard supports speeds of up to 200MB per second.
