Comcast raises dividend as Sky takeover boosts Q4 growth

(Telecompaper) Comcast announced a 10 percent increase in its quarterly dividend, helping to offset plans to halt its share buyback after increased debt taken on for the Sky acquisition and signs of accelerating cord-cutting at its US cable business. Revenue for the quarter rose 26.1 percent to USD 27.85 billion thanks to the Sky takeover from October, and adjusted EBITDA was up 21.6 percent to USD 8.19 billion. Quarterly net profit dropped 83.3 percent year-on-year to USD 2.51 billion, due to tax gains in the year-earlier period and costs for the Sky deal.

Comcast (NASDAQ: CMCSA) has reported results for the quarter and year ended December 31, 2018. In the quarter, total cable video customer net losses were 29,000. At Sky, customer relationships increased by 164,000.

Intel, Comcast lead cable industry efforts to deliver 10G broadband, Wi-Fi 6 in the home

(Telecompaper) Intel announced at CES 2019 that it has signed a new deal with Comcast to help bring 10 Gbps speeds and Wi-Fi 6 to homes. Under the deal, Intel will optimise its 8th Gen Intel Core processors for pCs to deliver Gigabit Wi-Fi from Comcast's xFi Advanced Gateways. The two companies will also work together to drive the adoption of Wi-Fi 6 in the home and develop a global standard for 10 Gbps.
