Thermoplastic Compounds feature carbon fiber reinforcement.
2014-01-14 14:30:45| Industrial Newsroom - All News for Today
Based on carbon fiber reinforced PEEK, PPA, PPS, and PEI resin systems, Ultra Performance Structural Compounds are manufactured using compounding techniques that maximize fiber integrity. Injection-moldable thermoplastic materials are available in high-temperature resin systems with carbon fiber reinforcement loadings from 20%–40% to meet range of application requirements in diverse markets. In addition to structural characteristics, other capabilities may be added during compounding. This story is related to the following:Thermoplastic Materials |

Japan signs carbon offset deal with Palau

Reuters: Japan has signed an agreement with Palau to allow Japanese companies to earn carbon credits by helping the small Pacific island cut greenhouse gas emissions, the Japanese government said on Monday. Under the deal, both nations will set up a joint committee of representatives to operate a bilateral offset crediting mechanism, known as the Joint Crediting Mechanism, Tokyo said in a statement. Japan has already has nine such bilateral agreements, aiming to bypass the lengthy screening process...

US carbon emissions rise 2%
2014-01-14 11:30:00| Climate Ark Climate Change & Global Warming Newsfeed
Guardian: Energy-related carbon dioxide pollution grew by 2% last year after declining several years in a row, a government report said Monday. The increase was largely due to a small boost in coal consumption by the electric power industry, according to the study by the US Energy Information Administration. American cars and factories spewed 5.38 billion tons of carbon dioxide in 2013, up from 5.27 billion in 2012, the report said. Carbon dioxide is the chief man-made global warming gas. Coal, long...

Carbon footprint maps reveal urban-suburban divide
2014-01-14 07:00:00| Climate Ark Climate Change & Global Warming Newsfeed
LA Times: Where you live in a metropolis -- the city or the suburbs -- can make a huge difference in how much you are contributing to climate change, according to a new study. People in the densely populated cores of big cities are responsible for less greenhouse gas emissions, but the more carbon-intensive lifestyle of their far-flung suburbs cancels out any of the benefits, researchers at UC Berkeley found. The analysis used household income, vehicle ownership, home size, population density, weather...
