Southwest Ventilation Project Update: October 30, 2015

Environmental Services is working on a project to reduce sewer odors and increase the capacity of the Southwest Parallel Interceptor sewer system. The project is designed to accommodate current needs and potential growth. Since February, the contractor has installed about 1,000 feet of 24-inch concrete pipe and 6 manholes along SW Taylors Ferry Road, and 2 manholes on SW Virginia Avenue.

EcoWatch: Earth`s hottest temperature ever recorded in the month of October occurred on Tuesday, Oct. 27 in South Africa, when Vredendal hit a remarkable 48.4°C (119.1°F). Increasing from 42.5 in September, NEMA's Electroindustry Business Conditions Index (EBCI) for current conditions in North America measured 44.7 in October. Measure of intensity of change in current business conditions remained at -0.4. Separately, EBCI for future North American conditions rose to 68.4 in October after measuring 52.5 in September.
