NTSB publicly released more than 2,000 pages of information as part of ongoing investigation of May 12, 2015, Amtrak passenger train derailment. Train #188 derailed after entering curve at 106 mph where speed is restricted to 50 mph. Of 250 passengers and 8 Amtrak employees, 8 passengers were killed and more than 200 others were transported to hospitals. Docket includes documents containing interview transcripts, letters, factual reports, photographs, and other investigative material.

Fairfield police officers responded to a train derailment around 12:25 a.m. Tuesday at the 23rd Street crossing behind Performance Pipe. According to the police report, Burlington Northern Santa Fe officials advised the two locomotives were dislodged from the main track, but they were not blocking the crossing.

Tennessee Agencies Paid $430K by CSX for Train Derailment

CSX Transportation has paid over $431,000 to local agencies since a train carrying hazardous material derailed and caught fire in eastern Tennessee earlier this year. Officials with the Blount County mayor's office, the Blount County Fire Protection District and the cities of Maryville and Alcoa all said they have received payments from the railroad company, The Knoxville News Sentinel reported.

The Transportation Safety Board says a fractured piece of railway track caused a derailment last year that sent coal ash waste into a creek in Banff National Park. A report has concluded that a loose joint and minor cracks in the track had worsened over time with train traffic.
