The Latest: Keystone Pipeline to restart after oil leak

TransCanada says it has received conditional approval to restart its Keystone Pipeline after identifying the source of a small leak in South Dakota. TransCanada spokesman Mark Cooper says the company expects to complete repairs on Saturday and will restart at a reduced pressure to ensure everything is working properly.

" TransCanada says its crews have identified a small leak on the Keystone Pipeline near its Freeman pump station in South Dakota. The company estimates the leak let about 16,800 gallons of oil seep into a field about 4 miles away in Hutchinson County.

CNN: TransCanada plans to reopen the Keystone pipeline on Saturday, a week after a spill was discovered in an underground section of the pipeline in South Dakota. After days of searching for the source of the spill, TransCanada announced on Friday it had identified a "small leak" on the pipeline near the Freeman pump station in Hutchinson County. TransCanada said regulators have given the company conditional approval to resume delivering oil on the pipeline on Saturday following completion of repairs....

Pipeline, utility deals fuel jump in Canadian M&A activity

Acquisitions in the utility sector and a major cross-border pipeline transaction helped drive the volume of Canadian M&A activity up 48 percent in the first quarter of 2016, even though the number of deals declined. Thomson Reuters data released on Thursday showed the overall number of deals in the period fell 18 percent to 511 from a year earlier, while the deal value surged to $67.9 billion from $45.9 billion a year ago.
