A Fourth of July classic car show raised $1,130 for the Helping Hands Humane Society in Topeka, organizers said this week. The car show, which formerly had been held at Lake Shawnee as part of the Spirit of Kansas Festival, took place Saturday in the parking lot of Advance Auto Parts, 3118 S.W. Topeka Blvd. Ed White, who organized the event, said many attendees made contributions in a jar that was made available at the show.
