Relatively inexpensive improvements, many of them on the exterior, will return more of their cost when the home is sold than big-ticket changes, according to the latest version of the "Cost vs. Value" report prepared by Remodeling magazine. The annual report compares the cost of 36 home improvements to the estimated value they will add to a home when it is sold.
