NTT launches JPY 4.25 trillion buyout offer for mobile unit Docomo - report

(Telecompaper) Japanese operator Nippon Telegraph and Telephone (NTT) plans to take its mobile business NTT Docomo private, according to multiple media reports. The deal is worth around JPY 4.25 trillion (approximately USD 40 billion). NTT will launch a tender offer for the 34 percent stake in NTT Docomo that it does not already own, at JPY 3,900 per share.

Softbank Group to raise cash by selling shares in mobile unit, bringing stake down to 40%

(Telecompaper) As of 3 August, Softbank Group said it has sold or monetised JPY 4.3 trillion (almost USD 41 billion) worth of assets, as part of a programme announced in March to buy back shares and reduce debt for a total of JPY 4.5 trillion (almost USD 43 billion). Softbank Group said it will offer part of its holding in Softbank (mobile), for a total of 927.5 million shares. There will also be a greenshoe of 100.5 million more shares. The offer price will be determined on the pricing day.
Oi aims to sell mobile unit for at least BRL 15 billion

(Telecompaper) Oi has announced that it plans to sell its mobile unit (Oi Movel) for at least BRL 15 billion. It also aims to set up separate entities for investments, operation and maintenance of telecommunications infrastructure. In total, it expects to raise BRL 22.8 billion from the sale of the mobile division, data centres (minimum asking price BRL 325 million), towers (BRL 1 billion) and the infrastructure unit.

SoftBank mulls launch of mobile unit IPO this year

(Telecompaper) SoftBank has announced it is considering an initial public offering for its mobile phone unit. SoftBank plans to list its wireless unit in Tokyo and overseas this year and the offering could bring in about CNY 2 trillion (approximately USD 18 billion), the Nikkei reported. Listing the shares is one of the options, but no decision has been made to officially proceed with the IPO, the company said in a statement.
