Execute in the soybean market; reduce additional risk on the rally
2014-10-31 21:55:00| Corn & Soybean Digest
As a producer I continue to believe "best-of-practice" is to reduce additional risk on the rally. I now have 100% of our 2014 production priced and will be exclusively looking for ways to improve my basis levels or re-own existing sales in the weeks ahead. Grain Market Viewpoint read more

Corn, soybean harvest progressing nicely; yields vary
2014-10-21 21:57:00| Corn & Soybean Digest
The fall harvest season started a bit later than normal in 2014, but has been progressing at a fairly nice pace in recent weeks across the region. In the areas that did not receive a killing frost in September, most crops were allowed to reach full maturity, which will likely add some yield and the quality of the corn and soybeans. Areas affected by the early frost, have reported reduced soybean yields, as well as some quality issues with the corn. Focus on Ag read more

Will weather in South American support soybean prices?
2014-10-17 22:37:00| Corn & Soybean Digest
Growth in supply has clearly outpaced growth in demand. It's going to take a little bit of time, but eventually I suspect the wrinkles get ironed out and prices start to stabilize (I just don't think we are there yet). Producers should remain patient, keeping all soybean hedges in place, and use any extended "geopolitical" or "weather" related rallies to reduce additional long-term risk. Ag lenders concerned about soybean prices
2014-10-13 02:33:00| Corn & Soybean Digest
Low soybean, corn and wheat prices have ag lenders nearly as concerned as growers heading into the peak of harvest and 2015. Theyre also worried about reduced farm income, price impact on land costs and whether the rail-car shortage in northern states will impact grain movement elsewhere, says Dan OBrien, Kansas State University grain marketing specialist. read more
