Groundwork Jacksonville, under newly appointed CEO Dawn Emeric k, is leading a public workshop Monday and Tuesday to develop consensus around a conceptual plan to link the neighborhoods of Springfield and Eastside to the Hogans Creek Greenway through the S-Line Rail Trail. The 4.8-mile stretch of abandoned CSX railway is owned by the City of Jacksonville, which is going to bid out work on the trail's reconstruction sometime later this summer.

Both gunmen identified in the May 3 attack against the "Draw Muhammad" event at the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland, Texas, attended the Islamic Community Center of Phoenix , according to news reports. Elton Simpson and his roommate, Nadir Soofi , both were known to mosque leadership dating from 2006, although Usama Shami , chairman of the mosque's board of trustees, claimed they stopped attending recently.
