'Women In Trucking' debuts 'image team'

With one of its goals being to encourage the employment of women in the trucking industry, the Women In Trucking Association Inc. has launched what it dubbed the "Image Team." In addition to boosting the ranks of women in trucking, nonprofit WIT's stated mission is to promote women's accomplishments "and minimize obstacles faced by women in the trucking industry."

When the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure released the BC on the Move 10-year transportation plan on March 18, the B.C. Trucking Association was glad to see not only plans for infrastructure improvements, but the more important message that B.C.'s economy depends on a safe, reliable and efficient transportation network. It's only a short leap of logic from that statement to recognition that a strong and healthy B.C. economy relies heavily on a vibrant, thriving, efficient trucking industry.
Local truck manufacturing exec named new chairwoman of Women in Trucking

While reporting on Daimler Trucks North America's SuperTruck program this week, I discovered that Mary Aufdemburg , an executive at Daimler in Fort Mill, is the new chairwoman for Women in Trucking. The trade association, based in Plover, Wis., seeks to encourage more women to get into the trucking industry, and it promotes their accomplishments.
