Position Reference 1017 RHEA is an international system engineering Group active in Space Cybersecurity solutions services. Building on a systematic growth achieved in size and credibility over the last decade, RHEA has established in 2020 a new subsidiary in Luxembourg in order to enlarge from within Luxembourg its impact and sustainable position visvis national international institutions and commercial clients, leveraging the competences of the Group, in line with Luxembourg space cybersecurity strategies. In particular, RHEA System Luxembourg S.A. focuses on creating new recurring endtoend and integrated services in satellite and cybersecurity engineering and has decided to establish innovative responsive Satellite Operations services in Luxembourg for addressing both governmental and commercial stakeholders. We are then building, with partners, a brandnew Mission Control Centre in the heart of Luxembourg City to operate entire satellite systems and missions. In this context, we are currently looking for a Satellite Image Quality Engineer to work in the Earth Observation segment of that Mission Control Centre such segment being responsible endtoend for the imagesrequests management, production, validation and distribution of processed satellite images to the users. The key person will have the opportunity to be part of a dynamic and strong team working in all the preparation activities and the routine operations of the mission in close coordination with the overall Mission Operations Centre and in full compliance with the customers needs. The Quality Engineer will be responsible for validating and performing all activities related to the calibration of the system, both onground and inorbit, and to the validation of the satellite images produced. In hisher role, the Quality Engineer will be interfacing with the Satellite Imagery operations team, the Mission Operation Centre and its Payload Ground Control Centre, ensuring the quality and timeliness of the products. Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include Execute all activities related to the validation and calibration of the system, as well as performing offline analysis and statistics, and to the quality of the products. Manage and keep up to date the onground and onboard calibration parameters and the Ground Calibration database. Generate the calibration and validation Request For Image according to the mission plan and verify that all activities have been correctly executed. Perform Image analysis calibration, quality and validation. Contribute to the HWSWNetwork maintenance of the Ground Control Centre and to documentation writing, editing and control. Liaise with the satellite platform and payload engineering operations teams as required for ensuring the targeted products Quality. Participate to all the preparations and acceptance activities of the Ground Control Segment, such as Commissioning phase and InOrbit Qualification, including training attendance. Provide oncall support whenif required. Skills and Experience Junior Engineer, ElectroOptical Degree or equivalent. Operational knowledge of Optical Products Analysis and quality process. Advanced knowledge and working experience of Earth Observation systems. Operational knowledge for working with operational customers. Good level of written and spoken English, any other EU language would be appreciated. 23 years of experience in the Images Processing Procedures. Experience of commissioning phase and endtoend system testing would be appreciated. Excellent teamwork spirit and crossfunctional cooperation whenever needed. Motivated and willing to learn new skills and competences. Able to work in an operational and commercial context. Positive, focused and learning mindset. EU citizenship is mandatory. Extensive knowledge in image processing, compression and computer vision techniques. Extensive knowledge in optical imaging payloads, signalimage quality and onboard payload data processing functions. Extensive knowledge in simulation of image processing functions Matlab, Python, ENVIIDL, C, etc. Knowledge in the design, training and validation of machine learning techniques not limited to deep learning for tasks such as prediction, classification, semantic segmentation, object detection, etc. Familiarity with computational imaging techniques image stabilization, superresolution, active optics, etc. Familiarity with payload data processing onboard systems architectures. Familiarity with processing devices and onboard electronics design related to data acquisition and processing functions. Familiarity with procurement of demonstrator units, subsystem integration and testing. Ability to work in an autonomous manner, in particular when providing support to projects with high time allocations and this in coordination with the line manager.
