ASABE to adopt agricultural machinery definition standard.

ASABE has initiated an adoption of international standard ISO 12934:2013, Tractors and machinery for agriculture and forestry - Basic types – Definitions. ASABE standard ANSI/ASAE S390, Definitions and Classifications of Agricultural Field Equipment, was used as the basis document for the development of ISO 12934 and is also referenced in various U.S. and state regulations. Adoption will further harmonize national and international standardization.

ASABE Adopts 2 ISO Standards for AG machinery seating, anchorage.

American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) adopted, without deviations, 2 international standards for instructional seats and restraining belts on agricultural machinery: ASABE/ISO 3776-2:2015 and ASABE/ISO 23205:2014. These adoptions promote further harmonization of national and international standardization as to facilitate manufacturing, safety advancements, and product marketing worldwide.

ASABE to revise standard for combine testing.

ASABE has initiated a project to revise ANSI/ASAE S396.2, Combine Capacity and Performance Test Procedure. Standard is being revised to clarify wording and to consider the incorporation of new practices for performing loss testing on combine harvesters. ANSI/ASAE S396.2 will also be compared with ISO 8210:1989, Equipment for harvesting -- Combine harvesters -- Test procedure, to determine whether information from the ISO document should be included in S396.
