T-Mobile USA unveils new pricing, launches LTE, iPhone

2013-03-26 17:12:00| Telecompaper Headlines

(Telecompaper) T-Mobile USA has unveiled its new pricing strategy, as well as launched its LTE network and confirmed the start of iPhone sales. The so-called 'Un-carrier' strategy centres on the Simple Choice Plan offering unlimited calls, SMS and 500MB of 3G data for USD 50 per month, with no contract. LTE data can be added for USD 20 per month more. A second phone line with the same plan is USD 30 per month, and each additional line is USD 10 per month. To add another 2 GB of data, customers pay USD 10 per month more per line. Phones cost extra, and can be paid upfront or in interest-free installments. This will include the iPhone 5 from 12 April for USD 99.99 upfront, plus USD 20 per month over 24 months. The iPhone 5 will work over T-Mobile's new LTE network, which launches initially in Baltimore, Houston, Kansas City, Las Vegas, Phoenix, San Jose, and Washington, DC. Other LTE devices at launch include the BlackBerry Z10, the Samsung Galaxy Note II and the T-Mobile Sonic 2.0 Mobile HotSpot. The HTC One will be added later this spring, and the Samsung Galaxy S 4 in the second quarter. To mark the new offers, T-Mobile is starting an ad campaign with the tagline 'T-Mobile un-leash' and a wild west-themed TV commercial painting the operator as the new guy in town saving locals from three black-hatted cowboys.
