US Commerce Dept says won't enforce ban on TikTok

(Telecompaper) The US Commerce Department said it will not enforce the order to ban the TikTok app in the US, which was set to take effect from 13 November, the Wall Street Journal reports. This follows a court order obtained last month in a case brought by three TikTok users against the government ban.

ByteDance asks court for more time on TikTok sale ahead of 12 November ban

(Telecompaper) ByteDance, the owner of TikTok, has asked a US appeals court for additional time to work out a potential sale of its operations in the US, citing a lack of communication from the American government ahead of its 12 November deadline to ban the app. The petition was filed in the US Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit, the Wall Street Journal reports.

Swedish regulator delays 5G auction start after court injunction regarding ban on Huawei

(Telecompaper) Swedish communications regulator PTS said the Stockholm administrative court has granted an injunction against the condition for auctioning 5G frequencies in the 3.5 GHz and 2.3 GHz bands that prevented Huawei from supplying equipment for the new standard of network. The regulator said it has informed the qualified mobile operators that the auction due to start on 10 November will not go ahead on that date. PTS will continue to analyse the court ruling and look at ways to begin the auction as soon as possible.
