(Telecompaper) The US Justice Department's antitrust division staff has recommended the agency oppose T-Mobile US's acquisition of smaller rival Sprint, two sources familiar with the matter told Reuters. The final decision on whether to allow the merger lies with political appointees at the department, headed by antitrust division chief Makan Delrahim. The Justice Department is expected to make a final decision in about a month, the two sources said.

Aside from fraud, the CFO and companies have been charged with money laundering, conspiracy to defraud the US, obstruction of justice and sanctions violations.
