2013-11-27 09:42:00| Telecompaper Headlines
(Telecompaper) Vivendi has confirmed plans to separate its telecom operations from the media and content activities and agreed to name 5 percent shareholder Vincent Bollore its next chairman. Bollore, who is already vice-chair of the supervisory board, will take over from Jean-Rene Fourtou as chairman of the supervisory board after the company completes its demerger plan sometime in the second half of 2014. The demerger plan is expected to take the form of a distribution of SFR shares to Vivendi shareholders. It would offer them the opportunity to invest in two separate vehicles listed on the stock market and valued according to the specifics of their respective sectors, the company said.

Vivendi to consider SFR spin-off, names Bollore vice-chair
2013-09-12 10:07:00| Telecompaper Headlines
(Telecompaper) Vivendi's supervisory board has decided to commission a study into splitting the group into two companies, both based in France. The first would be an international media group comprising Universal Music, Canal Plus and GVT, covering music operations worldwide, TV in France Africa, Poland and Vietnam, TV and film production, and broadband and associated services in Brazil. Under the plan under consideration, French mobile and broadband operator SFR would be spun off as a separate company. A final decision regarding the demerger could be taken at the start of 2014 and submitted to the 2014 shareholders' meeting. Vivendi's supervisory board feels that the move would create significant value to shareholders, giving them the opportunity to invest in two clearly differentiated groups evaluated according to the specifics of their respective sectors. To prepare this new organisation, Jean-Rene Fourtou, chairman of the supervisory board, proposed the appointment of Vincent Bollore as vice chairman of the supervisory board.

Bollore wants Vivendi CEO job - report
2013-09-09 15:33:00| Telecompaper Headlines
(Telecompaper) French telecom and entertainment conglomerate Vivendi has picked up the pace in the last few days in its search for a CEO to succeed Jean-Francois Dubos, who holds the post on an interim basis, writes Les Echos. The nominating committee is due to meet during the week of 9 September, and the supervisory committee is expected to ratify the decision before the end of the month. The headhunting operation, underway since the start of the summer, came up with Bertelsmann chairman and CEO Thomas Rabe as the favourite. However, according to the paper's sources, French industrialist Vincent Bollore, who owns over 5 percent of Vivendi, was not happy with the possibility of a German heading the two "jewels" (fleurons) of French industry, satellite TV broadcaster Canal Plus and telecom operator SFR. As a result, Bollore is now going for the job himself, the report said.
