Xiaomi developing 108-megapixel smartphone camera with Samsung

(Telecompaper) Xiaomi announced at its "Images of the Future" conference in Beijing that it's working with Samsung to develop a 108-megapixel camera sensor for inclusion in future phones. In a statement, Xiaomi said the 108MP "ultra-clear" image sensor, the world's highest-resolution smartphone camera sensor, will be capable of producing photos with a resolution of 12,032 x 9,024 pixels, maintaining a picture quality of 27MP in 2x zoom, which more than doubles the pixels of a standard 12MP telephoto camera. No addition information was provided other than the claim that the sensor is "coming soon".

I was struck by a recent video of a soldier who apparently took some woman's parking spot and then went off the rails when she objected. He bad-mouthed the U.S. military and the U.S., abused his wife, and put his child at risk. A decade ago we probably wouldn't have seen this incident, but now there is a good chance that anyone who misbehaves, as this guy clearly did, will be caught on camera.

(Telecompaper) Xiaomi has announced a new range of affordable smartphones with high-end cameras, the Mi CC series. The Mi CC9 offers a similar body and high-end camera configuration to its flagship Mi 9, with 32MP front camera and 48MP rear camera, as well as an in-screen fingerprint sensor and a large 4,030mAh battery. The phone will sell from CNY 1,799, along with the lower-spec Mi CC99e from CNY 1,299 and the high-end Mi CC9 Meitu edition for CNY 2,599.
