RIP Nokia: Microsoft Lumia is the new face of Windows Phone

2014-10-24 14:53:21| Extremetech

Microsoft has announced that the Nokia Lumia brand is dead; there will be no more Nokia-branded Windows Phones. Instead, we'll now get Microsoft Lumia devices. Microsoft to replace Nokia brand with Microsoft Lumia

2014-10-22 08:34:00| Telecompaper Headlines

(Telecompaper) Microsoft has announced on its Nokia France Facebook page that it will be rebranding its Nokia Lumia range of phones as Microsoft Lumia. "In the coming days, you will receive a message from Facebook on the renaming of this page. We are about to become Microsoft Lumia," said the message. The company later confirmed to The Verge that other countries will follow the rebranding steps in the coming weeks. Following the completion of its acquisition of Nokia's mobile phone business in April, Microsoft is gradually phasing out the Nokia brand in connection with Lumia smartphones and tablets, as well as Nokia mobile phones, Xbox hardware and other products and accessories. The Nokia Lumia 730 and 830 handsets released last month could be the last to feature the name Nokia on the front and back of the product. However, Nokia still exists as a separate company, specialising in network infrastructure, mapping and licensing.
