Microsoft holds off on dual-screen devices for next Windows

(Telecompaper) Microsoft is holding off on developing dual-screen devices for its next version of Windows. Panos Panay, chief product officer for Windows and Devices, said in an update that the company will first release Windows 10X for single-screen devices and later consider whether to bring dual-screen devices to market.

Eclypsium has released research that identifies and confirms unsigned firmware in WiFi adapters, USB hubs, trackpads and cameras used in Windows and Linux computer and server products from Lenovo, Dell, HP and other major manufacturers. Eclypsium also demonstrated a successful attack on a server via a network interface card with unsigned firmware used by each of the big three server manufacturers.

Petitioners Demand Microsoft Release a Free Windows 7

The Free Software Foundation wants Microsoft to keep Windows 7 alive as a free operating system. Microsoft stopped providing free security patches and support for Windows 7 earlier this month. Although the popular operating system reached its 10th birthday last fall, some 200 million PCs around the globe still run it, according to industry estimates.
