Bokaro Steel shutting down schools

Mounting losses and the ongoing slump in the steel industry has pushed Bokaro Steel into taking a decision it has long avoided: shut down all 21 schools it runs in the steel town and hand over the campuses to private firms. A proposal to this effect has been sent to Steel Authority of India , and Bokaro Steel hopes it will be cleared since sister concern Bhilai Steel Plant, which had sought to take similar measures, was allowed to do so by the SAIL board.

Jharkhand CM, SAIL chief discuss Bokaro steel plant expansion

Steel Authority of India Ltd. newly appointed Chairman P.K. Singh on Sunday met Chief Minister Raghubar Das and discussed the expansion of Bokaro steel plant. The SAIL chairman told Das that the company wants to set up new plants on available vacant land, an official release said here.

Dalmia Cement fully acquires Bokaro Jaypee Cement plant

Dalmia Cement Bharat Ltd Thursday said it has fully acquired the Bokaro Jaypee Cement Ltd from Steel Authority of India Ltd for Rs.1,150 crore which will give it a market share of 13 percent in east India. In March this year, we acquired 74 percent stake in the Bokaro plant when it was producing 1.5 million tonne of cement every year.

SAIL plans Rs 60,000-cr expansion in Bokaro in second phase

Months ahead of completing Bokaro plant's capacity addition to 5.7 million tonnes , Steel Authority of India Ltd today said it plans to raise it further by another 10 MTPA with an investment of Rs 60,000 crore in the second phase.
