Successful week of talks in Bonn looks towards finalising dynamic climate deal in 2015
2013-05-04 09:59:00| Climate Ark Climate Change & Global Warming Newsfeed
Irish Times: The global agreement to combat climate change due to be concluded in 2015 is now likely to include a dynamic element that would allow new scientific evidence to be taken on board as time passes. At the end of a week-long round of talks in Bonn, UN climate chief Christiana Figueres said it was still unclear how this racheting mechanism would be achieved, but the process needed to match the clarity of science. Atmospheric greenhouse gas concentrations will soon pass the 400 parts per million...

Dynamic Mechanical Analyzer Assures Seal Safety and Security
2013-05-02 06:00:00| Industrial Newsroom - All News for Today
Adequately characterizing the elastic recovery of materials used to manufacture seals such as those required in hydraulic equipment is critical to assuring long term seal safety and function. METTLER TOLEDO's Dynamic Mechanical Analyzer, DMA/SDTA861e, successfully investigates soft sealing elastics mechanical properties to encourage product durability and performance.

In hydraulics, ensuring that seal materials can recover after deformation caused by pressure is critical. ...This story is related to the following:Material Strength Testers |

Session 1: Dynamic Line Rating by Lindsey Manufacturing
2013-04-16 21:28:00| Transmission & Distribution World
Lindsey Manufacturing Co. along with their partners at Idaho National Labs have developed and deployed a new Transmission Line Monitor (TLM) for EHV lines that uses onboard LiDAR to measure conductor ground clearance, and other sensors to measure conductor temperature, tilt, roll and conductor vibration.Location Online Webinar United States See map: Google Maps Now Available On Demand Duration: 60 Minutes Lindsey Manufacturing Co. along with their partners at Idaho National Labs have developed and deployed a new Transmission Line Monitor (TLM) for EHV lines that uses onboard LiDAR to measure conductor ground clearance, and other sensors to measure conductor temperature, tilt, roll and conductor vibration. Data from the TLM is transmitted via mesh network radio to an end point computer. This data can be used to manage congestion problems on transmission lines. When combined with weather and line loading data, algorithms have been developed by Lindsey's partner, MWH, to calculate day ahead line capacity. These new forecasting tools will increase line capacities while continually monitoring the line to maintain compliance with NERC requirements. This webinar will present the results of this new TLM technology. About The Series: Welcome to the Advanced Technology Series of webinars by Burns & McDonnell. This year we will feature six progressive transmission line technologies that support the safe, reliable, efficient and compliant operation of HV and EHV transmission lines. The webinars will include: Session 1 - January - Dynamic Line Rating by Lindsey Manufacturing Session 2 - March- Smart Wire Grid on Distributed FACTS (Flexible Alternating Current Transmission System) Session 3 - May- Composite Core Conductors Session 4 - July - CRUX on Micropiles and Steel Pile Caps Session 5 - September- EHV Cable Systems Session 6 - November- Automated Aerial Patrol Markers Sponsored by: read more
