(Telecompaper) Singapore's Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) has announced that, at the close of the 5G Call for Proposal on 17 February, it had received a total of three submissions. These include one each from Singtel Mobile Singapore and TPG Telecom, and a joint-submission from StarHub Mobile and M1. IMDA said it is evaluating the submissions and expects to award the spectrum by mid-2020.

America Movil to invest USD 8.5 bln in 2020, launch 5G in H2 - CEO

(Telecompaper) America Movil has plans to spend another USD 8.5 billion on capital expenditures in 2020, similar to last year's investment, to continue expanding its fibre-optic infrastructure throughout Latin America and launch its first 5G networks, said the company's CEO Daniel Hajj, according to Reuters. In a call with investors following the publication of America Movil's full-year results, Hajj said 5G services will likely debut in Mexico this year and may arrive in Brazil as well, depending on the availability of spectrum.
Veon names new CEOs after meeting FY targets, targets similar organic growth in 2020

(Telecompaper) Veon Group said it met or exceeded its targets for growth in organic revenue, EBITDA and cash flow for 2019 and declared a final dividend of 15 cents per share. The company also announced the new co-CEOs Sergi Herrero and Kaan Terzioglu. They will take over from 01 March from Ursula Burns, who will return to being chair of the group.

Cisco raises dividend as profits improve despite 4% fall in revenue

(Telecompaper) Cisco reported revenues for its fiscal second quarter to January down 4 percent year-on-year to USD 12.0 billion, in line with its outlook. The company forecast a further decline of 1.5-3.5 percent in the current quarter. Profits were still higher in Q2, and Cisco raised its quarterly dividend by 3 percent to USD 0.36 per share.
