(July 23, 2015)—A soil pit demonstration by Alliance Tire Americas at the North American Manure Expo in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, highlighted the dramatic difference in soil compaction between bias-ply and radial flotation tires—a roughly 50-percent difference in the depth of the compaction. Alliance compared two types of tires on the same 7,250-gallon Diller manure tank—conventional bias-ply R-3 tires on one side of each of the rig’s two axles and radial flotation tires on the other. read more

Direct Tire finally ready to expand

After nearly 18 years operating four stores in the Boston metro area, Direct Tire & Auto Service is preparing to build a fifth store. The Watertown-based dealership said it is planning to break ground either this week or next for a 7,300-sq.-ft., eight-bay store in Medway, a suburb southwest of Boston.

Port Allen company sued by DEQ over possible overpayment through Waste Tire Management Program

The state Department of Environmental Quality sued a Port Allen waste tire recycling company that it claims delivered tons more of recycled tires than allowed for projects the state had approved, but still charged the a state-un fund for the full amount. DEQ claims the company delivered 46 million pounds of recycled tires beyond what had been pre-approved by the state agency.
