A Ventura County man accused of jumping a pedestrian on a La Jolla roadside, throwing her to the ground and sexually assaulting her, pleaded not guilty Friday to assault with intent to commit rape and other charges. Villasenor, of Oxnard, allegedly ran up to the woman from behind and attacked her as she was walking to her car in the 7700 block of Exchange Place shortly after 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Jolla partners Mifone, launches first phone with Intex

(Telecompaper) Jolla has announced a new partnership to develop its Sailfish mobile operating system with the African phonemaker Mifone. At Mobile World Congress, Jolla and India-based Intex Technologies also unveiled the new Aqua Fish smartphone powered by Sailfish OS. This is the first device running on a licensed Sailfish OS, part of Jolla's new strategy to expand beyond making its own hardware and build partnerships in the BRICS countries. Sales of the Intex phone will start by the end of April. With Mi-Fone, Jolla expects to launch a phone running Sailfish OS in several African markets in Q2.

Gymnastics Coach Accused of Statutory Rape in La Jolla Appears in Court

A Santee gymnastics coach accused of having sex with a 15-year-old girl at La Jolla Shores pleaded not guilty Thursday to 12 charges, including statutory rape. Patrick Wehrung, 25, had posted $50,000 bail, but the bond was raised to $80,000 and he was taken back into custody.

More rain, gusty winds and high tides are in the forecast in parts of San Diego County Tuesday as a result of the first of two storm systems expected before Christmas. Gusts of between 50 and 60 miles per hour were clocked in the mountains prior to about 2:30 a.m. today, according to the National Weather Service.
