A few weeks ago I looked at Burner, an Android app that creates anonymous, disposable phone numbers for your smartphone. Android app Snapchat is in the same arena in that it, too, provides privacy for smartphone users. The difference, however is that this app uniquely deletes MMS-like multimedia messages once they've been viewed.

Flexible camera array could lead towards panoramic photos that dont suck

Researchers at Queens University in Ontario are taking the core concept of panoramic photography to the next level. Instead of taking a series of photos, and then stitching them together later, this Flexcam uses a flexible array of three cameras, and dynamically expands the width of the photo as you bend the device itself.

Astronomers at the Big Bear Solar Observatory have captured the most detailed, visible-light images of the Sun. In the first image, you can see the terrifying detail of a sunspot, where intense magnetic activity prevents the convective flow of superheated plasma. In the second image, the Sun's photosphere (the surface region that emits light) shows off its "ultrafine magnetic loops."
