SCISYS is currently seeking a highcalibre software engineer to join the Space Division, based in Bristol, UK. Our spacecraft onboard software group are currently seeking an enthusiastic, ambitious and motivated individual with expertise in the area of developing mathematical software such as onboard attitude and orbit control software. We deliver a wide range of projects and products to our customers, such as the European Space Agency, spanning large scale system developments used to control satellites to small technology studies involving prototypes and technology demonstrators. This is an extremely exciting opportunity to be involved in the development of prestigious ESA space missions, such as ExoMars. As a team lead or senior engineer within the group you will be responsible for leading and contributing significantly to our onboard software development teams. Successful candidates should possess some or all of the following skills and expertise This post would suit a candidate with post graduate qualifications and a handful of years of experience in mathematical modelling and the development of mathematical software. Although ideal, experience in the space sector is not essential. Tasks will include requirements analysis, software design, software implementation and software validationverification. In addition to these engineering tasks, candidates will be expected to present and communicate any work undertaken in both commercial and academic environments. The Lab is well established in the field of space hardware, having had a major scientific and hardware involvement in worldleading heliospheric, magnetospheric and planetary physics space missions flown by NASA and ESA. Solar Orbiter is due for launch in October 2018. You will be responsible for finalising and releasing the flight software to be loaded onto the magnetometer in Q1 2018. You must have a degree in computing, electronic engineering, physics or a closely related discipline, or be able to demonstrate an equivalent level of research, industrial or commercial experience. Experience of writing code in one or more software languages e.g. C is essential. Experience of writing C code applying a MISRA C or other coding standard, and experience of writing code for RTEMS or another realtime operating system, would be desirable, but is not essential. You will also be expected to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, and have experience of working effectively as part of a team to ensure technical deadlines are met. You will join the Software Engineering and Quality Group SEQ in the Department of Science Operations Software SCS, which provides development teams with software engineering services, including the testing of software applications during all phases of the development lifecycle. Particular focus is on the automation of test cases wherever possible, GUI testing for desktop and web applications, and the maintenance of regression test suites. You will provide support in the following Testing software applications for the ALMA project according to ALMA standards and processes. Regularly interacting with developers and science users to collect and understand the user requirements. Producing test cases, plans, and reports. Analyzing test results, and investigating the root causes in collaboration with the developers. Maintaining the existing automated test suites. Defining, and maintaining effective test environments.
