Nucor to restart Louisiana DRI plant

Nucor Corporation has announced that its direct reduced iron plant in Louisiana will resume operations by the end of January 2016. The Charlotte, North Carolina-based steelmaker temporarily suspended production at the plant at the end of 2015 for planned maintenance and indicated it may suspend production beyond that based on market conditions.

Associated Press: A Japanese court gave the go-ahead for the restart of two nuclear reactors Thursday after its operator said in an appeal they were safe. The Fukui District Court in western Japan lifted an April injunction that was filed by a group of residents who said that a massive earthquake exceeding the facility's quake resistance could cause a disaster similar to the Fukushima crisis following the March 2011 quake and tsunami. Federal Resources Minister Josh Frydenberg will seek to encourage further support by Japan for Australia's liquefied natural gas sector in a series of meetings this week, even as the country presses ahead with the restart of nuclear power plants. Mr Frydenberg kicks off his program with talks later on Wednesday with Japan's newly appointed Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Motoo Hayashi, who has the job of overseeing the controversial resumption of nuclear power production after the Fukushima accident in March 2011.
