While most U.S. businesses have been shut out of Cuba for 55 years, Arkansas' poultry industry has exported broiler meat to the tiny island nation for more than a decade. In fact, frozen chicken has been the top grossing U.S. export to Cuba since 2009, according to the U.S.-Cuba Trade and Economic Council.

Reuters: The U.S. pipeline safety office has fined Exxon Mobil Corp $2.63 million for spilling crude oil in an Arkansas residential area in 2013, the regulator said on Thursday. The Illinois-to-Texas, 20 inch (51 cm), Pegasus pipeline spilled about 3,190 barrels of oil in a neighborhood near the town of Mayflower. A 51-year-old power plant in Arkansas was brought down in a series of implosions as Entergy Arkansas moves forward with more modern electricity-generating facilities. The demolition was finished Thursday at the Robert E. Ritchie power plant in Helena-West Helena, a city in the Mississippi Delta region about 70 miles southwest of Memphis, Tennessee.

Arkansas Gives $3 Million to University for Trucking Studies

Tom Courtway, president of the University of Central Arkansas, Scott Bennett, AHTD director and Steve Williams, chairman and CEO of Maverick USA Inc. The University of Central Arkansas received a $3 million award to create an endowed faculty position that will focus on the trucking industry, the Associated Press reported. The university says the new major will train students in motor carrier operations, regulation, safety, risk management, transportation policy and labor relations, AP reported.
