BIO applauded Senators Tom Carper and Pat Toomey for introducing COMPETE Act, which will spur biotech capital formation and stimulate innovative research and development. Specifically, BIO President and CEO Jim Greenwood voiced support concerning included provisions which make R&D tax credit permanent while increasing credit rate. Greenwood also commended increased credit in bill for innovative research expenses as well as encouragement of investment in early-stage, R&D-centric businesses.

Google will offer its own wireless service, but says it won't compete with the big dogs

Sundar Pichai, senior vice president of Android, Chrome and Apps for Google Inc., announced plans Monday to launch a U.S. wireless service, The Wall Street Journal reported. Details will be revealed in the coming months, but the service would be small-scale and not intended to compete with the big four U.S. carriers, said Senior Vice President Sundar Pichai , who oversees Android, Chrome and Google Apps, during a presentation at the industry conference.

Tony Moraco, CEO of Science Science Applications International Corp. told analysts Monday that the $790 million acquisition of Reston-based Scitor Corp. will provide reentry into the intelligence community through access to classified contracts, cleared personnel, and a robust security infrastructure. Science Applications International Corp. will re-enter the intelligence market with its $790 million acquisition of Reston-based Scitor Corp. , making good on a goal noted by SAIC CEO Tony Moraco a year ago.

World Bank lifts ban on Alstom to compete for projects
