Council approves One Paseo project

With a vote of 6-1, the San Diego City Council Monday passed a 23.6-acre mixed-use housing, retail and office project that opponents say will destroy northwest San Diego's affluent Carmel Valley neighborhood. The $750 million One Paseo development will encompass nearly 1.5 million square feet of floor space, including more than 600 units of homes, shops and offices south of Del Mar Heights Road, between El Camino Real and High Bluff Drive.

Qualcomm approves increase in capital return programme

(Telecompaper) Qualcomm has announced that its board of directors has approved a major increase in the company's capital return programme to deliver value to stockholders. Effective immediately, the board has authorised the company to repurchase up to USD 15 billion of its common stock. The USD 15 billion programme replaces the previous programme, which had a USD 2.1 billion authorisation remaining.

EPA Approves Low-GWP Refrigerants to further climate protection.

After receiving input from industry, environmental groups, and others, EPA is increasing available options for refrigerants, which offer improved climate protection without harming ozone layer, for use in refrigeration and air conditioning equipment in U.S. Approved substitutes have global warming potential (GWP) ratings from 3–675 and can replace older compounds with GWP from 1,400–4,000. All climate-friendly alternatives, except HFC-32, are exempt from Clean Air Act venting prohibition.
