EPA Issues Supplemental Funds to clean up Brownfields properties.

U.S. EPA announced ~$13.2 million in supplemental funding to help communities by cleaning up contaminated Brownfields properties. Supplemental funding of Revolving Loan Funding (RLF) will be given to 31 RLF grantees and help 44 communities carry out cleanup and redevelopment projects. In addition to creating jobs, these projects will protect health of people and environment. Often, RLF funding provides last key piece needed to make property cleanup and reuse happen.

EPA announces $54.3 million in Brownfields grants.

EPA announced the selection of 243 new grant investments totaling $54.3 million to 147 communities across the U.S. Investment will provide communities with funding necessary to assess, clean up, and redevelop contaminated properties, boost local economies and leverage jobs while protecting public health and the environment. Recipients will each receive approximately $200,000 to $600,000 in funding toward EPA cooperative agreements.

EPA Selects 20 Communities for Brownfields AWP grants.

To revitalize communities and strengthen local economies via cleanup and reuse of Brownfields sites, U.S. EPA selected 20 communities in 16 states to receive ~$4 million in Brownfields Area-Wide Planning (AWP) grants. Up to $200,000 will be awarded to foster work with communities on Brownfields planning and reuse in conjunction with community assets: housing, recreation and open space, employment, education and health facilities, social services, transportation, infrastructure, and commerce.
