AP Twitter hack prompts fresh look at cyber security needs
2013-04-24 14:06:24| InfoWorld: Top News
Getting hacked on Twitter is fast becoming a rite of passage for big corporations, but Tuesday's attack on the Associated Press could be a tipping point and shows that social networks must do more to keep their users safe, security experts said. Wider use of two-factor authentication, which can involve an access code being sent to a user on a second device such as a smartphone, is one possible solution. Such a mechanism could be introduced selectively, some experts said, for high profile accounts such as celebrities and large corporations.

TeliaSonera plans fresh review of Eurasia transactions
2013-04-18 15:38:00| Telecompaper Headlines
(Telecompaper) TeliaSonera's new board of directors announced plans for a review of the transactions and agreements made by the operator and its partners in Eurasia in the past few years. The international law firm Norton Rose will conduct the review, which will include a risk assessment in terms of business ethics and analysis of TeliaSonera's processes and routines to determine whether they are suitable for managing the identified risks. The new review follows an earlier independent investigation of its activities in Uzbekistan, which cleared the company of any legal violations but identified serious shortcoming in some of its practices in terms of ethics. The company's entry on the Uzbekistan market is still under investigation by Sweden's public prosecutor. The new review, which will look at all transactions in Eurasia, will be completed by the end of 2013.
