New county energy savings program is launched

No reductions expected in oil train traffic through Bergen County

Despite plummeting crude prices and an expected drop in production, CSX railroad executives say they will continue to ship the same amount of oil for the foreseeable future, including the 15 to 30 oil trains that travel each week through Bergen County. Millions of gallons of highly flammable crude from North Dakota travel past thousands of homes and businesses in New Jersey every week, prompting safety concerns among local officials, residents and emergency responders.
