Winter's early arrival has left the Guiding Light Mission and other downtown missions short of coats, according to Stuart Ray, executive director of the mission at 255 S. Division Ave. "We could use 500 coats here," said Ray, whose agency in the Heartside neighborhood serves about 500 homeless and transient men every month. Guiding Light's donations locker had just one coat on hand when he checked on Friday, Nov. 14 - a cold morning with sub-freezing temperatures and snow on the ground.
