The portion of total revenue for the Hsinchu, Taiwan chipmaker from its most advanced 28nm node will probably drop to about 10% during the second half of this year after peaking at 11% in the second quarter.

Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp. , China's largest foundry, declined to say whether it will make money from 28nm products this year as the company ramps up its most advanced process technology. "It's a bit too early to say in terms of revenue contribution about 28nm by the end of the year," said SMIC executive vice president Gareth Kung Friday on a conference call to announce the company's first-quarter 2015 financial results.
