NZX rejects call for Pyne Gould delisting

NZX, which runs New Zealand's main stock market, has rejected a suggestion from the NZ Shareholders Association that it should delist investment firm Pyne Gould Corp to protect the integrity of the market. The association has complained to NZX and the Financial Markets Authority regarding Pyne Gould's practices, but had been told that the market is informed and can make its own decisions, NZSA chairman John Hawkins said in a statement.

New Zealand stocks are taking another pummelling today on the back of renewed concerns about the state of the Chinese economy. Major stocks taking big hits include Air New Zealand, down 2.2 per cent, and Auckland Airport, which had fallen 1.9 per cent in early trading.

NZX Regulation, the supervisory arm of the stock market operator, has placed a trading halt on dairy futures and options after technical errors led to discrepancies in information detailing how much product Fonterra Cooperative Group plans to offer in next week's GlobalDairyTrade auction, a benchmark for the derivatives. Trading was halted at 11.07am today "pending a correction to the announcement regarding the Fonterra Offer Quantities for the GlobalDairyTrade auction released yesterday afternoon," NZX Regulation said in a statement.

NZX offers milk forecasting services to dairy industry

NZX, which operates the New Zealand stock exchange and the dairy futures market, is offering a new service for the dairy industry to forecast local milk production and calculate milk prices. From this month, NZX is offering a Milk Production Predictor, which estimates New Zealand milk production for the coming three months, with forecasts based on climate, pasture growth and cow numbers, the Wellington-based company said in a statement.

Marsden Maritime censured for breaching NZX rules

Northland ports company Marsden Maritime Holdings [NZX: MMH] has been rapped over the knuckles by market regulators for breaking the rules on voting rights. The New Zealand Markets Disciplinary Tribunal has publicly censured Marsden formerly known as Northland Port Corporation for breaching NZX main board listing rule 9.3.1, which disqualifies a shareholder from voting if they are an "associated person" of a director.
