A drug-and-device combination developed by Watertown-based pSivida Corp. not only helped improve vision in all 11 patients in a mid-stage trial, according to results announced today. It actually helped two patients who were legally blind to see well enough to drive a car again.

A manufacturing facility on East Shelby Drive that makes cell-based products for commercialization is undergoing a 32,500-square-foot expansion. July 10, Kajima Building & Design Group Inc. filed a $9.47 million building permit for a 32,500-square-foot "office and clean room" expansion for Cognate Bioservices Inc.'s U.S. manufacturing facility at 4600 E. Shelby Drive near Lamar Avenue.

Bedford biotech sees promising results from arthritis injection study

Bedford-based Anika Therapeutics Inc. is one step closer to developing an injection to help osteoarthritic knees with promising Phase III results issued Thursday afternoon. The latest Anika study is a follow up from one conducted earlier this year, which showed that a single injection of CINGAL for knee pain was safe and effective.
